The Book of Temples Chapter 29
As Wielder of Arms
flapped her vast, strong wings
she climbed away from the ground.
She crested the village
and saw beyond it
hundreds of people running.
They were armed for war
and Wielder realized
the others had been stalling.
She cried to her friends,
“We have been betrayed!
More foes come to join the fight!”
The people below
begged Delver to wait,
“Yes, we had sent word for aid.”
"We’ll tell them to stop.
We wish not to fight.
If you wait, the peace will hold.”
But Wielder of Arms
heard nought of their pleas.
She only saw the attack.
Then Wielder of Arms
exhaled fiery breath
igniting the whole village.
Her human friends fled
away from their foes
to avoid the dragons’ wrath.
Delver of Gems roared
and struck at her foes
with teeth, claws and her fire breath.
With attackers slain
and village burning
Delver joined Wielder aloft.
Eastward they both flew
beyond the village
to end the incoming threat.
The dragons’ friends stayed
away from the fray.
They watched the carnage from there.
They could see nought but
fiery dragon breath
scorching unseen enemies.
The burning village
blocked this violent view.
For that, they were so grateful.
