Keeper of Lore

The Unfated Wanderers Canto 30

The Unfated Wanderers entered the Inverted Tower with the rest of the Learned Scholars of Icebrunt. Sixty three people and one Keeper of Lore occupied this space. She retained her human shape indoors. Malevolent mayhem made it unwise to be unsheltered.

Once the tower entrance was secured, Keeper of Lore cornered Quake. She asked, “Master Equerry, have you seen anything like this before?”

The Equerry’s eyes no longer glowed and the fire upon his brow had flickered out. He replied, “No. In the lengthy history of the world, one Realm has never merged with another. I am a servant of the gods but I am not privy to their designs. The Children activated Apocalypse. Myrtaroelnozinlimkwyisumybtagial hijacked the World Machinery and caused this blending.”

A Scholar advised Keeper that she had finished sending out Boxing messages to everybody. Many people checked in but many more had not. Keeper thanked her and said, “I do not know what to do about any of this. I do not even know where to start.”

Unbe said, “Once it is safe to go outside, we should seek out the Scholars that we have not heard from. We also need to find a more suitable place to shelter within. We need food and water and such. There are no supplies here. I will task some people to begin looking for a new base.”

Keeper of Lore instructed the most hearty and valiant people in the group to seek out the missing Scholars, for rescue and rendering of aid. She tasked the Unfated Wanderers with the destination of Shatterbone. Tong had not answered any Boxing messages and she was worried about him. Quake advised all of the seekers to avoid any settlements. He was concerned that they might be targets for Darkling Fomenters.

The day dwindled and the night passed. In the morning, Quake said, “Perhaps the seekers should depart now. I hope that the chaos has calmed somewhat. Though I fear the danger is still immense. Go with caution. May your Fates be kind to you on your expeditions.”
